• Determined to rise above his masters, he learned to read and write. Eventually, he was able to purchase his own freedom.
  
• His Autobiography, "The Interesting Narrative of the Life of Olaudah Equiano," helped in bringing about an end to the transatlantic slave trade in Britain.
  

This original drawing by Paul Cox was created on 7x10 mix media paper.  It was drawn using India ink and colored with Copic markers.  The artwork comes with a certificate of authenticity signed by the author and stamped with a foil seal of authenticity.
