MUG: Swan of the Reformation

Jan Hus burned at the stake in 1415 for believing in the authority of the Bible over that of the Catholic Church. As he was burning, it is believed he said, “You are now going to burn a goose, [Huss signifying goose in the Bohemian language] but in a century you will have a swan which you can neither roast nor boil.”
