The Pilgrim’s Progress is one of the most beloved—if not the most beloved—Christian allegories of all time. Written by John Bunyan while he was in prison for preaching the gospel, the first part of the book has been in print since 1678. Although Bunyan did not initially publish the book with illustrations, most later editions have included them. However, Cox’s version is both an illustrated and poetic adaptation of Bunyan’s work. As a result, it introduces young children to this important classic in a way that is accessible and engaging. I’ve read Paul and Stephanie Cox’s edition to my kids many times. It is succinct yet captures the heart of Bunyan’s original work, making it memorable through rhyme and beautiful illustrations. I highly recommend this adaptation of the timeless classic.
