It is recorded in Foxe's Book of Martyrsthat while the flames rushed upon them, Latimer encouraged Ridley with the words, "Be of good cheer, Mr. Ridley, and play the man. We shall this day light such a candle by God's grace in England, as I trust shall never be put out."
